There are almost as many events on the list as there are lobsters in Penobscot Bay. Cycling, paddling, and hiking treks are expected, but also guided tours through historic districts, outdoor yoga sessions, and digging for steamer clams. The Maine Outdoor Film Festival screens movies with nature themes. There are new geocaching spots and an apple/pumpkin festival.
That weekend sees not only a full moon but also a total lunar eclipse. Several sites hold full moon walks and stargazing. There’s even a nighttime hike to an outdoor restaurant to dine while watching the eclipse.
