‘Gilmore Girls’ to get even more Netflix episodes

I was among many who were super excited, even a little crazed about the “Gilmore Girls” revival that hit Netflix in November. But then something weird happened: the combination of the fact that “A Year in the Life” was fairly disappointing and the torrent of think pieces that came out about it kind of beat my fandom out of me.

R.I.P. to this Gilmore girl — for now. It looks like I might get another chance to revisit the world of Stars Hollow and my feelings about it: According to the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos says the streaming service is in “preliminary talks” about an additional”GG” season.

It’s not surprising that there would be more Gilmore content, given “A Year in the Life”’s cliffhanger ending. And although viewer reactions were mixed, the numbers were certainly high, with Symphony Advance Media reporting in December that 5 million viewers ages 18-49 had watched all four episodes, Netflix’s third largest viewership after “Orange is the New Black” Season 4 (5.8 million) and “Fuller House” Season 1 (7.3 million).

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino is not letting up steam; she has a pilot for a completely new show due out March 17 on Amazon (the entire first season hasn’t been ordered yet). ”The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” set in 1958 Manhattan, tells the story of a well-to-do Jewish housewife (played by Rachel Brosnahan of “House of Cards”) who decides to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. We’re definitely expect fast-talking punch lines, but Lorelai and Rory are a tough act to follow. See, I’m still loyal.
