Goat won’t be ‘charged’ after butting kid

It was kid versus kid – literally.

A young boy was unharmed after a goat charged at him in a Lower Sackville neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.

Halifax RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin said a mother was dropping off her son at a home on Orchard Drive around 7:30 a.m. when a goat appeared and charged at her boy.

Taplin said the child ended up being butted by the goat, but not injured.

The goat then began charging at the mother, Taplin said, but she was able to gain control of the animal and call police.

“First time I’ve heard of something like that,” Taplin said of the bizarre incident.

The goat was eventually put back in the cage of the neighbouring residence it belonged to when officers arrived.

Taplin said the homeowners who owned the goat were away when the animal somehow got loose from its cage.
