GoFundMe created for Tewksbury woman killed in Las Vegas shooting

Rhonda LeRocque

A GoFundMe page is raising money for the family of a Tewksbury woman who was killed in the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday night.

Rhonda LeRocque, 42, was at the Route 91 Harvest Festival with her husband, Jason, and their six-year-old daughter, according to the fundraiser page, created by LeRocque’s aunt, Gloria Murdock.

Though her husband and daughter both survived, LeRocque was one of the 59 killed when a gunman opened fire on the outdoor concert on Sunday.

The GoFundMe page is asking for help covering the expenses of flying LeRocque’s mother out to Las Vegas before LeRocque is cremated, as well as flying LeRocque’s remains back home to her loved ones and to go toward Jason and his daughter’s future needs.

“Rhonda LeRocque was a person full of life, she loved her family with all her heart,” Murdock wrote about her niece. “She was a great example of what a Wife, Mother, Sister, Daughter and Niece should be and touched so many others lives.”

As of Tuesday morning, the page has raised more than $4,000 of its $25,000 goal.

LeRocque was a devout Jehovah’s Witness and many of the comments on the fundraiser page reference her faith as well as reaching out to her husband and daughter in their local congregation in order to send donations directly there.

LeRocque also worked at IDEO, a design firm in Cambridge’s Central Square. One of her coworkers referred to her as the “beloved ‘den mother’ of the office who often brought homemade baked goods for her colleagues,” the Boston Globe reported.

At least 59 people were killed and more than 520 were wounded when Stephen Paddock fired at the concert crowd from his 32nd floor hotel room in the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

The violence Sunday night is the worst shooting in U.S. history. No motive for Paddock’s rampage is yet known.
