GRANADA, Spain – Spanish club Granada has hired Abel Resino as coach, one day after firing Fabricio Gonzalez.
The 51-year-old Resino, whose only prior topflight experience was spending eight months in charge of Atletico Madrid in 2009, was appointed on Monday.
Gonzalez was fired on Sunday after a third straight loss left the promoted club just above the relegation zone at the midway point of the season.
Resino takes over a team that has scored only 12 goals from 19 games, the worst attack in the league.
The appointment of Resino, a former Atletico goalkeeper, is the sixth coaching change in the Spanish league this season.
