For 60 years, hundreds of women have been flocking to Army & Navy for Canada’s largest shoe sale.
Kicking off the spring season, the 12-day sale, which starts at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, is expected to draw the usual lineup around the block.
“We never thought it would become as big as it is,” said Army & Navy president Jacqui Cohen.
“Last year it grew 30 per cent from the year before.”
More than 100,000 shoes are on sale this year. For $29.99 you can get your hands on Christian Audigier, Diesel and Steve Madden. Other big names include Gwyneth Paltrow, Rocketdog and Naughty Monkey, to name a few.
Piccini shoes, which retail for $125 to $200, will be on sale for $49.99 — the most expensive price in the sale.
If lining up before 8 a.m. isn’t appealing, don’t worry, as there will be new shoes arriving daily, with the shelves being replenished constantly throughout the day.
“It’s just a frenzy,” Cohen said.
