Habitat for Humanity needs businesses and individuals to donate items for silent auction at their charity golf tournament this August 26.
Last year, hotel golf packages, hockey tickets, and tools were among the items auctioned to help raise nearly $45,000. On average, it costs $110,000 to construct a Habitat home, said Sandi Ferchau, Fundraising Events Manager.
In 2009, Habitat built 9 homes in Calgary; this year, 5 homes have already been constructed, she said.
“This Fall, Habitat will break ground in Cochrane, building five units there, and in Airdrie, starting with six units,” she added.
