Halifax-area talent shining in the Q

The following is a glance at Halifax-area hockey products who have stood out in the QMJHL this season.

• Alexander Beaton, F, Lower Sackville (Lewiston). Quietly leads struggling Lewiston in scoring with 27 points in 34 games.

• Peter Delmas, G, Bedford (Quebec). Battled through a hip injury to post a 3.06 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage in 23 games for powerful Remparts.

• Ben Duffy, F, Lower Sackville (P.E.I.). Former top pick getting lost in the shuffle at age 17 on a stacked offensive team. He has 22 points in 37 games.

• Gerrad Grant, F, Halifax (Halifax). Despite starting the season on the injured list because of wrist surgery, the 19-year-old is breaking out with 32 points in 33 games.

• Michael Kirkpatrick, F, North Sydney (Saint John). Former Subways winger is third on one of the nation’s top teams with 40 points in 37 games.

• Stephen MacAulay, F, Dartmouth (Saint John). Six-foot-two forward earned checking job in Saint John and is getting noticed by NHL scouts with 17 points in 35 games.

• Brandon MacLean, F, Bedford (P.E.I.). Former first-rounder is a physical winger with seven points in 27 games.

• Christian Morin, D, Dartmouth (Saint John). Physical rearguard with nine points and 59 hits in 25 games was dealt last week from Val-d’Or to Saint John.
