We’re not drop-dead gorgeous, but we’re not butt-ugly either.
According to a new report from the Conference Board of Canada assessing the attractiveness of Canadian cities, Halifax was one of 14 cities to earn a grade of B, putting them behind only six cities that received an A.
Titled City Magnets II: Benchmarking the Attractiveness of 50 Canadian Cities, the report based on 2006 data looked into what made cities attractive to skilled workers and mobile populations.
Cities were compared on 41 indicators grouped across seven categories — society, health, economy, environment, education, innovation and housing.
Joining Halifax with a grade of B were cities like Edmonton, Toronto and Regina.
The six cities receiving A’s were Calgary, Waterloo, Ont., Ottawa, Richmond Hill, Ont., Vancouver and St. John’s.
Twenty-one cities received C’s, and nine scored D’s, including Saint John, N.B.
