Halifax gets top scorer Swan back

The Halifax Mooseheads will get a boost next round with the return of leading goal-scorer Bryce Swan.

Swan, who has missed two games with a concussion, will be back in the lineup for Game 1 of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinals against the Gatineau Olympiques on Saturday, general manager Marcel Patenaude said.

The 20-year-old has been a force in the playoffs, atoning for a fairly ordinary regular season by scoring 10 goals in nine games and playing a strong physical game.

His goal total is second in the league to Saint John Sea Dogs forward Scott Howes, who had 11 going into last night’s game. He is also just two goals away from tying Jamie Brown’s 11-year-old franchise record for playoff goals.

Games 1 and 2 are Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Metro Centre. The series shifts to Gatineau for Games 3, 4 and 5 on Wednesday and Thursday at 8:30 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, are back in Halifax on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, at 7 p.m.
