Ever since it was announced that “To Kill A Mockingbird” author Harper Lee would be releasing her second book, “Go Set a Watchman” this summer, rumors have circulated that she has been manipulated into publishing the book and it is not being done out of her own free will.

Several sites and publications have said that Lee is not of a coherent mind and was unable to make this decision herself. But according to a new New York Times interview with Lee’s lawyer Tonja Carter, that is not the case. Carter told the New York Times that Lee is “extremely hurt and humiliated” about the rumors that the novel is being published against her will.”She is a very strong, independent and wise woman who should be enjoying the discovery of her long lost novel. Instead, she is having to defend her own credibility and decision making,” Carter says.

Well, that settles that.
