When her Harvard professors and classmates learned Loren Galler Rabinowitz was competing in the Miss Massachusetts pageant, they gave her a quiz.
“I had to field a lot of questions in the beginning as to maybe what my intentions were,” she said. “I think that especially in the Northeast there’s sort of this misconception that people who are involved in pageants are very beautiful but not very smart.”
The 24-year-old Brook-line native who just took the Miss Mass. crown graduated from Harvard earlier this year as an English major, also studied medicine and plans to pursue a career in medicine. She moves onto the Miss America national competition in January.
