Haverhill Police swept up 27 people and recovered 15 guns as part of a gun and drug bust that officials say is still ongoing.
Police arrested 19 of the 27 people on Wednesday, while the others were previously arrested.
Officers recovered 15 guns — including at least one sawed-off shotgun — assault rifles, revolvers and other handguns. Police also seized variety of narcotics including heroin, oxycodone, cocaine and marijuana. RELATED:Boston’s ‘largest’ gang bust nabs 41 leaders from ‘most feared’ gang “As a result of a joint investigation involving municipal, state and federal law enforcement agencies 27 dangerous individuals were apprehended,” Haverhill Police Chief Alan DeNaro said in a statement. “Many of those targeted in this campaign are extremely dangerous individuals who posed a significant threat to the safety of our citizens. We feel confident that the city and the region is a lot safer with these individuals off the streets.”
