Health care, Bill 50 on Grits’ agenda

The Alberta Liberals say Bill 50 and health care are top priorities for the official opposition party once the fall session of the Alberta legislature kicks off next week.

“We’ll be focusing on what’s best for Albertans while the other side will be focusing on the upcoming leadership review,” said Liberal Leader David Swann.

Swann said the Alberta Liberals will be promoting their Bill 50 interactive program, a website and toll-free number that Albertans can use to express their concerns and ideas about the bill, which deals with the construction of new electricity infrastructure in the province.

Swann also said health care is an issue that Albertans are anxious to discuss.

“We think that health care will continue to dominate a public agenda, even if it does not make much noise in the house as far as new legislation,” Swann said. “We’re the only credible party on health care.”

Swann said he and his colleagues have met with over a thousand Albertans in forums across the province to hear their health-care concerns and suggestions for improvement.

The fall session starts Oct. 26.
