Herd still looking for their captain

The Halifax Mooseheads aren’t planning on naming a captain until next week.

In the meantime, the C is expected to rotate among the top candidates for the full-time letter.

The Mooseheads’ cloudy over-age picture — with four on the roster and only three permitted in the lineup each night — is complicating the process.

“Right now, we’re going to rotate the C,” Mooseheads head coach and general manager Cam Russell said on Wednesday morning. “We’ve got to make a decision on our 20-year-olds … When we make a decision on those, then we’ll be able to name our captain.”

Russell wouldn’t say among who he intends to rotate the C, but it would be no shock to see 19-year-old veteran Travis Randell taking a turn or two.

Charles Bety is another option, but he’s likely going to find himself in the stands as the extra over-ager on the weekend.

The Mooseheads host the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Bathurst Titan on Saturday at 7 p.m.
