How to wear beige, the fall season’s It colour

Play with tonality
It’s a colour that brings to mind 1980s rayon dresses found in thrift stores and your mom’s old 1980s power suits.

Increase the youth factor by working in other neutral tones like cream and blush (another key colour of the season) the way Stella McCartney did for her spring/summer ’10 collection.

It gives the beige trend a hint of the unexpected.

Just be very careful in your choice of colors. Pick the wrong palette for your skin tone and you’ll looked washed out or ashy.

Fully commit to it
Head-to-toe beige can look perfectly chic in a 1970s kind of way. The key to pulling the full-on tan look off is the silhouette. Go for a slightly golden version of the color in a loose, easy silhouette like the Chloé look pictured. Let your bag and shoes give the outfit a pop of colour.

Limit it to your accessories
If the colour doesn’t work with your complexion, don’t force it. Experiment with the trend through accessories instead, using a great beige handbag or shoe to tone down a vibrant primary coloured dress, blouse or trouser.
