Indy drivers wave the Canadian flag on home soil

Team Oh Canada drivers Alex Tagliani and Paul Tracy shared their thoughts on the upcoming Honda Indy Edmonton yesterday.

Meeting with reporters at the Edmonton Expo Centre, the two drivers emphasized the importance of the Canadian events for their racing careers.

“For Alex and myself these are the most important events to show well and put your best effort in,” Tracy said. “We’re extremely excited.”

Fellow Team member Tagliani sees a clear advantage in the home game.

“It’s no secret. If there are races in Canada, there is a place for a Canadian driver in the series,” he said. “Paul and I have been working really hard to promote races in Canada for the last 10 years.”

Over the weeks leading up to the big event, Northlands will be holding contests, autograph sessions and auctions of Tagliani and Tracy equipment to promote the drivers.

Single day grandstand tickets for the Edmonton event start at $35 for Friday, July 23; $55 for Saturday, July 24; and $100 for race day, Sunday, July 25. Single day Paddock passes start at $20, while single day Pizza 73 pit walk-through passes start at $10.

Northlands President Ken Knowles also announced a special ticket promotion for Indy fans.

Everyone who purchases a three-day grandstand ticket to the Honda Indy Edmonton until July 4 will be automatically entered into a draw for two winners and one guest each to become Team Oh Canada pit crew members at the Honda Indy Toronto.

The three-day ticket packages are available from $135. Tickets are available online at www.edmontonindy.com or at www.ticketmaster.ca, or by calling Ticketmaster at 780-451-8000.
