Inside Look: 7 NYC rooftops with views of the Fourth of July fireworks

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks will be returning to the East River this year, and that means it’s time to cozy up to your friends with residential views of the festivities.

In the summer, a roof deck (shared, or better yet, private), finally seems like an amenity worth paying for, but on Independence Day it could literally elevate your celebration.

Here are seven buildings with roof decks at different spots along the East River that offer fireworks views without the massive crowds.

Austin Nichols House, Williamsburg

The Austin Nichols House, overlooks the largest stretch of the East River and offers direct access to the East River Ferry. This condo conversion located at 184 Kent Ave. has an interesting past. It was originally built to house the Austin, Nichols & Co. manufacturing plant and, later, the Wild Turkey distribution warehouse. Among its modern amenities is a rooftop sundeck with waterfront and skyline views.

50 North 5th Street, Williamsburg

This new rental building in Williamsburg promises “the ultimate roof deck experience.” Located just north of the Williamsburg Bridge and is parallel to the East Village, it also guarantees great views of the fireworks. Overall, there is 15,000 square feet of amenity space, including a two-level fitness center with indoor basketball court and courtyard with bocce ball.

251 First, Park Slope

Located on the corner of First Street and Fourth Avenue, this new development in Park Slope has both private and shared views – including a common rooftop – that span the East River, Lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. The rooftop comes with an outdoor kitchen, lounge and dining areas – perfect for a Fourth of July cookout.

Gantry Park Landing, Long Island City

This fairly new rental building on the Queens waterfront in Long Island Cityoffers amenities that include a 24-hour attended lobby, private gaming and club rooms, and landscaped sundeck. The sundeck features a fireplace and river views across from the Empire State Building and where some of this year’s Macy’s fireworks barges will be located.

75 Wall Street, Financial District

A 42-story tower is not a bad place to watch the fireworks. Located at Wall and Water streets, the 346-residence condo building has 360-degree views of downtown Manhattan. Residents have access to “integrated hotel services,” including room service, catering, housekeeping, on-site parking, valet laundry and a concierge. There is also a restaurant, Dina Rata, featuring farm-fresh cuisine and artisan cocktails, and a rooftop lounge and terrace offering panoramic Manhattan and river views.

One Sixty Madison, Midtown South

This new luxury residential building is located in what has been dubbed “Nomad,” near the areas of Murray Hill, Chelsea and Gramercy. The 45-story tower offers a rooftop full of amenities, including an indoor fireplace, two outdoor terraces and panoramic views.

Carnegie Park, Upper East Side

Located on East 94th Street, Carnegie Park is a 31-story condominium with both city and river views. The building not only offers a private half-acre park and playground, but also a landscaped roof terrace with a barbeque grill, seating, and views of Central Park, the East River and Midtown skyline.
