What is Groundhog Day about?

Cynical  TV weatherman Phil Connors is assigned to cover the annual tradition of Groundhog Day- much to his chagrin. Phil is extremely unhappy that he has to be there reporting on the boring event while being in the small town surrounded by all of the “hicks” who live there. While covering the event, some strange occurrences begin to happen and it seems that the weatherman is stuck on a hamster wheel of living the same day over and over again. At first, Phil does not realize what exactly is going on, but when the same instances begin to happen at the same time (like I Got You Babe playing every morning with the same announcement on the radio) he quickly realizes there are no consequences for his actions because they are erased the next day. At first, it’s exhilarating but Phil soon finds out the loneliness that comes with it. Phil must figure out a way to break out of the loop and discover love or else be stuck in a time wap forever.
