Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop is not easily rattled so it’s unlikely that the Islanders will find the type of success they had against him in Game 1 as they will in Game 2 on Saturday (3 p.m., NBC). The rock-solid Bishop, a Vezina Trophy finalist, was pulled midway through the Game 1 loss as he gave up four goals in just 13 shots.

“He’s been our best player all season,” Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman told the Tampa Bay Times. “He can’t be at his best and bail us out every night. We’ve got to make sure that everybody bounces back, and we’ve got to help him better than we did.”

The last time Bishop was smacked around this bad in the postseason came in last year’s playoffs when the Rangers scored five goals in both Game 3 and Game 4 of their conference final series. Tampa Bay ultimately wound up winning that series but Bishop was erratic, giving up zero goals in Game 5 and Game 7 but also giving up a five-spot in Game 6.

Bishop had been riding high in this postseason prior to Game 1 against the Isles as he gave up just two goals in Games 1-4 against Detroit before blanking the Red Wings in Game 5.
