More Canadian than a Mountie drinking maple syrup.
The smoothness of our national whisky makes a great base for the spiciness of the cordial (Bottle Green makes an excellent one, or you could try your hand at making your own), and the notes of cinnamon and clove give this an unusual but exciting complexity.
Garnish with some Atlantic cranberries, but remember to soak them in something sweet or their tartness will be too much for some.
The Northern Lights
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add:
- 1 oz Canadian rye whisky
- .5 oz spiced berry cordial
- .5 Cointreau
- .5 lime juice
- dash of simple syrup
