Oftentimes, I’m wrong. Stevan Ridley’s role this week comes to mind, as well as Mario Manningham’s supposed breakout season. But sometimes, I’m right. And when I said you should pick up Tim Tebow, I hope you listened.
A brutally ineffective Kyle Orton was benched at halftime of today’s game against the Broncos. When Tebow took over, the score was 23-10 and the Broncos were walking dead. When it was said and done, Tebow brought them within a completion of tying the game and did the thing we knew he could: RUN.
Tebow’s mechanics are awful. He can’t throw accurately. Heck, he can’t even get the ball cleanly from under center. But fantasy owners should pay that no mind. In just one half of work today, Tebow picked up 17 fantasy points because he ran for a touchdown and threw a screen pass for another. It’s the same refrain that we saw when Tebow started three games at the end of last season. During that span, Tebow averaged 217.0 passing yards, 66.3 rushing yards and scored seven total touchdowns.
In other words, add Tebow in all formats. After the Week 6 bye, I’d be comfortable with him as my QB1 going forward. He’s a mini-Cam Newton. The Broncos’ goal-line back and playmaker on offense.

Here’s the rest of the fallout from Week 5:
* Rashard Mendenhall (hamstring) was active but did not play. Meanwhile, Isaac Redman got outplayed by Jonathan Dwyer and dealt with cramps. I’d expect Mendy to be back in a feature back role next week.
* Jonathan Stewart didn’t even see the field in the first half before taking over for DeAngelo Williams in the second half. It’s just a massive waste of talent and resources by the Panthers.
* We’ve been talking a lot about Jimmy Graham as one of the best talents in the league in a perfect situation. If I had to bet right now, Graham will finish the year as fantasy’s No. 1 tight end.
* I’m still not buying Darrius Heyward-Bey. I know he’s hot, but he’s teased us so many times before.
* Jacoby Jones saw 11 targets Sunday but had one catch. Meanwhile, Kevin Walter and Owen Daniels were impressive.
* Bernard Berrian was benched and Devin Aromashodu took over as the No. 3 WR. That’s the way it should stay going forward.
* Joseph Addai went down with a hamstring injury and couldn’t return. Delone Carter is the add here.
* Speaking of adds, Jackie Battle will be a hot one this week. I talked about him briefly as a guy the Chiefs want to get more involved. He’s clearly better than Thomas Jones, just don’t expect 100 yards again this season.
* The Seahawks’ passing game is showing something. Doug Baldwin is a player, especially in PPR formats. Ben Obomanu is better than Mike Williams, who was sidelined by a concussion.
* Victor Cruz is the Giants’ new slot receiver and a playmaker. We’re always trying to stockpile talent and Cruz is certainly that.
* LeGarrette Blount banged up his knee. That’s what happens when you run to contact — hopefully you sold after Monday night.
* Ryan Mathews (calf) and Mike Tolbert (concussion) both left early today. But with the bye on deck, I suspect both will be fine.
* Willis McGahee had 16 carries today and Knowshon Moreno had zero. Yep.
* Steven Ridley got outplayed badly by BenJarvus Green-Ellis. Who knew. Definitely not me.
