Jamaica Plain man faces charges in Glass Slipper shooting

Two men were shot and seriously injured when a man opened fire inside a downtown Boston strip club early this morning.

Steven Gayle, 35, of Jamaica Plain, will face a judge this afternoon on multiple charges including assault with intent to murder, authorities said.

Gayle allegedly opened fire inside the Glass Slipper on Lagrange Street just after 2 a.m. today.

A detail officer working outside the club was alerted to the shots inside and, with the help of an off-duty officer nearby, caught up with Gayle as he fled, police said.

One of the victims, a 28-year-old man, was being treated as Massachusetts General Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. A 31-year-old man was in critical condition at Tufts Medical Center.
