Jeff Tweedy covers The Black Eyed Peas (VIDEO)

If there’s one thing you can count on in this world, it’s the disdain all right-thinking people have for the international music brand The Black Eyed Peas. Certainly count Wilco singer Jeff Tweedy among them. At a party last night in Chicago for both the actual mayor Rahm Emanuel and the fake Twitter account @MayorEmanuel, Tweedy performed two emotional covers of the Peas’ hits “I Gotta Feeling” and “My Humps,” to the delight of the assembled patrons.

Why? Mostly it has to do with Twitter jokes; @MayorEmanuel once tweeted at Tweedy that he was expecting some classic Peas jams at the event. “People love that s***.”

While we ourselves are not huge fans of the BEP experience, we have to say that these videos of Tweedy’s performance give us pause. Yes, the Peas’ lyrics are horrible — but the self-satisfied smirk on Tweedy’s face is even worse. And don’t get us started on the smug laughter coming from the audience.

We’re pretty sure stuff like this is exactly why no one ever votes for Democrats:
