Despite injuring his hamstring this past Monday in practice, New York Jets cornerback Marcus Williams is hopeful that he will play this weekend against the Washington Redskins. This, even after his return to the practice field was held off for another day. On Monday Williams was going through a normal practice, his first one since the Jets Week 4 win over the Miami Dolphins (the team went into a bye the next week following their trip to London). He said he felt his hamstring tighten in practice but he continued on and completed the session. He didn’t practice on Wednesday and he told Metro that was also the case on Thursday. “It is day-by-day,” Williams told Metro. “Just trying to take care of it and do what the [training] staff tells me to do. But it is feeling better.”
He said he is receiving treatment for it that includes heat and stretching.
Williams wouldn’t speculate on if he would be ready to go in time for Sunday’s game.
Now in his second year with the Jets, Williams had an impressive training camp and has been solid for the team so far this season.
