That’s it everyone, the college football season is over. Johnny Manziel, noncontact knee injury, pack everything up, let’s go home.

Yesterday was a strange day for college football, as there was no marquee nationally televised night game, the Red River Rivalry (when did it stop being the Shootout?) featured only one ranked team and the best game was on the West Coast and on Fox Sports 1, which apparently still exists. Even Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit were split up, which was very strange to hear.
But nestled at 8:30 p.m. was what turned into a great game between Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner made everyone in College Station have a heart attack when he dropped to the turf clutching his left knee on a noncontact injury. We’re still not exactly sure what happened, though he’s impressively athletic even when he’s getting injured. Not sure we’ve ever seen someone grab his knee in mid-fall/throw into the end zone.
Manziel stayed on the ground a few minutes in complete silence, went to the bench with 5:58 left in the first quarter, had the knee checked out and was able to return to the game without missing a possession.
Everyone exhale. The legend rides again.
Johnny Football was in all his glory in the fourth quarter, with the Aggies twice trailing by a touchdown. Manziel was, frankly, unbelievable. Here’s poor Mike Hilton getting his ankles broken twice by Manziel. It is no fun being the spy on Johnny Football.
The Aggies were led by Manziel to a 41-38 win on a late field goal, but the highlights were all Manziel’s.
