Judge William Adams: Father (sort of) apologizes after abuse video goes viral

What’s worse than downloading music illegally? How about beating your daughter with a belt?

A 2004 video making the Internet rounds this week appears to show a Texas family-court judge hitting his daughter — all for downloading music and computer games.

Hillary Adams, the daughter of Judge William Adams, surreptitiously shot the video seven years ago from her computer’s web cam. Hillary uploaded it to YouTube last week after receiving what she said was a “barrage of harassment” from her father, and the clip went viral Tuesday night after she posted it to the popular message board Reddit.

According to local Texas station KRIS-TV, Adams has apologized for his actions in the video. Sort of.

Judge Adams told us, “It happened years ago.. I apologized.”

When asked if he thought the conduct in the video was excessive, Judge Adams said, “It’s not as bad as it looks on tape.”

Judge Adams also informed us he has already contacted the Judicial Review in Austin and “more will come out” during the investigation.

Meanwhile, a person identifying herself as Hillary Adams on Twitter has sent out messages asking angry viewers to stop sending her father death threats:

It is my wish that people stop threatening my father and start offering professional help. That is what he really needs.

Please spread the word that my father needs professional help and not hatred. We can offer him the tools to be a better person. #fb
