Jury finds JP store clerk killer guilty

A convicted killer who gunned down a store clerk in Jamaica Plain a day after Christmas was found guilty by a jury today.

Edward Corliss, 65, was convicted of first-degree murder and other charges in the shooting death of 39-year-old Surendra Dangol.

Dangol was working as a clerk in the Tedeschi store in Jamaica Plain in 2009 when Corliss went in with a gun and robbed it. He shot Dangol during the robbery.

Corliss is also facing charges for allegedly trying to recruit an inmate to kill witnesses who testified against him, including his wife.

He was convicted of fatally shooting a Salisbury store clerk in 1971.

Sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.
