LeBron James once said he wants to be the first active billion-dollar athlete. With Tiger Woods’ pockets much lighter these days, James may actually be the first to reach that mark. And what better place to achieve that than New York?
Sure, the current supporting cast that awaits King James is weak, as the Knicks only have Danilo Gallinari, Toney Douglas, Eddy Curry, Wilson Chandler and Bill Walker under contract (new addition Amare Stoudemire can’t officially sign until today). That roster isn’t scaring opponents, but if James signs, many quality midlevel type players such Luke Ridnour, Mike Miller and Raymond Felton will take less just for the chance to play with the King.
