Katz named acting chairman of CRTC

GATINEAU, Que. – The federal broadcast regulator has named Leonard Katz as its acting chairman.

Katz steps in for Konrad von Finckenstein, who has retired from the CRTC.

Katz has been vice-chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission since 2007.

Before joining the regulator, he spent 30 years in the private sector including stints as president and chief operating officer of Digimerge Technologies and president of Rogers Business Solutions.

Katz will be acting chairman until the federal government appoints a full-time replacement for von Finckenstein.

The CRTC regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications.
