Kevin Love attends Red Sox game, taunts Boston sports fans

Celtics fans are salivating for a Kevin Love trade and the Timberwolves forward tossed them some raw meat on Sunday.

Love was in Boston for no apparent reason — he told sports blog Dirty Water News it was just “to see what it’s like” — but it was probably just to taunt Celtics fans.

We already know Love wants to be traded from Minnesota, saying last month he wouldn’t sign an extension before becoming a free agent after the 2014-15 season and all but demanding a trade. The Celtics are the owners of two first-round picks in the June 26 draft. They own the No. 6 overall pick — their own — and the No. 17 pick — which belonged to the Nets.

The Celtics and general manager Danny Ainge are in the tough position of trying to decided whether to deal those picks for a stud like Love or try to build with young talent. The 2014 NBA Draft is very deep, but Love is the best power forward in basketball.

It appears as though Love is jonesing to get to Boston. And he’s not just taking in games at Fenway Park. He also met up with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo.

Oh, it’s so tantalizingly close.

Rondo isn’t the only Boston star (presumably) lobbying the T’Wolves forward to join him in Beantown. The city’s biggest star, David Ortiz, took to Twitter to push for him to come to Boston.

Remember, Ortiz went from the wastelands of playing for the Twins at the Metrodome to Fenway Park, where he became a possible Hall of Famer.

Of course, it’s not up to Love whether he comes to Boston.
