Kids Day a big hit with local families

Karen Timmons and her three kids made a picnic type-setting in front of the Coca-Cola Stage hours before their favourite show was set to begin.

Coming down to the park for BMO Kids Day and of course, High School Musical, Timmons and her children joined hundreds of other kids and families in anticipation of the popular musical performance.

“We came early for High School Musical first and foremost, and it just happens to be on Kids Day,” she said. “The kids really like the movies and we thought the performance would just be a lot of fun.”

While Timmons planned on getting to the park early for the show, some other parents didn’t even know it was Kids Day, including father of two Matt Kuryluk. “I didn’t know but it turned out to be an added (bonus) because there is a lot of kids stuff to keep the kids busy and happy,” he said, holding his one-year-old and towing along his four-year-old. “We’re just going to spend the day here and it’s all about my kids.

“It’s their first time.”

Kids and families were kept busy, and there were thousands taking in the sights and sounds and tastes of the park.

“We’re here to enjoy the rides, the food, the games, the entire day as a family,” Rick Dzuis said.
