Tomas Knotek has earned the Halifax Mooseheads’ captaincy.
The third-year centre from Kladno, Czech Republic will wear the ‘C’ this season, according to head coach and general manager Cam Russell. Knotek co-led the Mooseheads in scoring last season and was named the team’s MVP.
“Tomas exemplifies what we’re looking for in a captain,” Russell said. “He’s probably our best player, and being our best player, he’s one of our hardest-working players.
“When you’re well-liked, well-respected and hard working … It was a fairly easy decision for us.”
Defenceman Pascal Amyot, who was a “close second” for the captaincy, will be an assistant. Russell hadn’t handed out the other letters at press time.
