Krim family speaks through website

The parents of two children murdered in October are on a cross-country voyage, finding memories of their children along their way back to New York.

Kevin and Marina Krim are parents to Lucia, known as Lulu, and Leo Krim, who were found killed in their Upper West Side apartment last year. Their nanny,Yoselyn Ortega, has been charged with the murder and pleaded not guilty.

In memory of their children, Kevin and Marina Krim created the Lulu and Leo Fund, which aims to support youth programs for arts and sciences.

“We want to honor our children through carrying on their love of arts and sciences education,” the Krims wrote on the page. Lulu particularly loved “Art Afternoons” at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they said.

On a Facebook page for the fund, they tracked their trip back from California as they return home to New York.

The family was traveling from Los Angeles, posting Jan. 2 that they hoped 2013 “will be a year of healing, growth and peace.”

Marina wrote Saturday that they were in “charming” Santa Fe, strolling through art galleries and finding pieces that Lulu and Leo “would have loved.”

During an earlier visit to Los Angeles, the family found a mural by Leo Politi, which was Lulu’s favorite children’s author and illustrator, they added.

Another post on the page wished their surviving daughter Nessie a happy fourth birthday.

“She saves us every day,” Kevin Krim wrote.

This is not the first time the case has reached into social media. Last year, a Facebook page supporting the nanny accused of the murder caused controversy.
