Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger will appear in a Surrey court today to be sentenced for a conviction of driving with a blood-alcohol limit higher than the legal limit.
The Crown is expected to ask for a $600 fine and a one-year driving prohibition.
Kroeger, 33, whose real name is Chad Robert Turton, was behind the wheel of his red $175,000 Lamborghini at 2 a.m. on June 22, 2006, when he was pulled over by police for speeding.
One officer estimated his speed at more than 160 km/h.
The arresting Mountie noted that Kroeger’s face and eyes were red and when asked for his licence and registration, the singer produced a credit card.
The rockstar eventually produced two breath samples and recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.14, almost twice the legal limit.
Kroeger was in Europe when he was found guilty at the beginning of April but was ordered to appear at today’s sentencing.
He had also been charged with impaired driving, but the charge could not be proved.
