Latest on Patriots Josh Gordon with a deal imminent

Here is the latest on Patriots Josh Gordon and a potential deal. The Patriots will likely finalize a deal for troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon tonight. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted out on Monday afternoon that, “the Patriots are getting close on a deal for Browns WR Josh Gordon, source said. Not official yet but headed that way.”

The Patriots are extremely thin at the receiver position with Julian Edelman still serving a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs. Gordon has been the league’s posterchild for drug-related issues this decade as he’s been suspended multiple times for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Many of Gordon’s setbacks have been related to alcohol abuse.

Gordon’s talent is unquestioned, however, and the Patriots are betting on their culture turning around the wide out.

Gordon, still just 27-years-old, has never had a solid NFL quarterback throwing him the ball. Since entering the league in 2012, the list of Browns quarterbacks reads like this: Brandon Weeden, Thad Lewis, Jason Campbell, Brian Hoyer, Johnny Manziel, Connor Shaw, Josh McCown, Austin Davis, Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler, DeShone Kizer and Kevin Hogan.

Here are some of Gordon’s top highlights.
