Learn to use Instagram better, self-defense and more in Flatiron Plaza this summer

On summer nights, you need a different way to unwind after a day at the office. Beginning this week, the Flatiron and 23rd Street Partnership has your weekdays covered with the Flatiron Summer Series.

The series, running for eight weeks from June 20 to Aug. 11, brings free events to the public plazas in front of the Flatiron Building on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, with a different theme each day. Check out thefull schedule,and be sure to RSVP online.

Tech Tuesdays

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays will feature informational tech classes taught by instructors from local businesses including General Assemblyand ThoughtMatter.Swing by the “Picture This: Instagram for Business” class on July 26 to learn about how to leverage one of the most influential and underused social media apps for your business from Greg Jacobs fromGeneral Assembly.

Wellness Wednesdays

Hump Day is all about working up a sweat through yoga and other fitness classes starting at 6:30 p.m.If you’re looking to learn a valuable skill while you work out, on Aug. 3Gotham Jiu Jitsu will hold aclass geared toward self-defense techniques for women.

Throwback Thursdays

Get creative in retro ways on Thursdays with live music and hands-on activities from games to crafts beginning at 11 a.m. In addition, every two weeks beginning on June 23 from noon to 2 p.m. there will be a two-hour bookbinding demonstration by the Center for Book Arts, which works to preserve the practice to showcase the aesthetic qualities of books. Local musicians will stop by the plaza in the evenings, with performances beginning at 6 p.m.
