Nominated actors Erin Karpluk and Ben Ratner were also presenters. Ratner took home the Leo for Best Supporting Performance by a Male in a Feature Length Drama for his role in Mount Pleasant.

The 2007 Leo Awards brought glitz and glamour to the Westin Bayshore hotel this past weekend. It was two nights of ceremony and celebrating as members of the local film and television industry were honoured for their craft. The event is a project of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of B.C., which, in this, its ninth year, received more than 800 submissions. Also included was a salute to local fashion designers who were featured in a Saturday afternoon show that provided a sneak peek at the gowns and styles to be seen at the big Saturday night gala.

Presenter and actress Gabrielle Miller is usually behind the coffee bar in her role as Lacey from the CTV comedy series Corner Gas, but this night she is behind the podium wearing a white and gold sequined Matlo original.

Film and television personality Terry David Mulligan is presented with this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award by actress Babz Chula, who was honoured with the same in 2006.

Leo Awards president Walter Daroshin, left, and actor John Cassini, who can be seen on the CBC drama Intelligence, prepare for the presentation of the first award.

Entertainment Tonight Canada reporter and Vancouverite Erin Cebula wears Metro green as she chats with stars on the red carpet.

Comedians/actors Ellie Harvie and Gary Jones are fabulous as this year’s hosts of the Friday night Celebration Awards and the Saturday night Gala Awards respectively.

Alexia Fast, 14, wins the Leo for Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Feature Length Drama for her role in Past Tense.

Models Genevieve Duford, left, and Tricia Henry strut the catwalk in designer Jason Matlo originals.

Weather/traffic gal Reena Heer accepts the Leo for Best News Package on behalf of producer Randy McHale and Global’s News Hour with Tony Parsons.

A big part of the Leo Awards is always the trophy models who, while being silently stunning, hand out the Leos dressed in fabulous, local, designer gowns.

Former dancer-turned-agent Breanna English, left, of Collingwood Management, with actress Holly Dignard, of CTV’s Whistler fame. Holly was also in the celebrity fashion show held earlier on Saturday.
