According to the state Insurance Department, the Long Island Insurance Company is the worst auto insurer based on upheld consumer complaints. Checking in at 165th place, LI Insurance Company had 265 complaints from 2008 through 2009. Nationwide, which didn’t have a single upheld complaint, ranked first overall.
