$5 meal challenge — can food this cheap taste good?

You’ll usually find co-eds emptying pockets for loose change in front of a greasy fast food joint or bodega rather than dining at all the exciting new culinary outposts the city has to offer (unless we’re talking the now-ubiquitous food trucks, of course). But that doesn’t mean college kids don’t crave good, nutritious, home-cooked meals. So when we came across “$5 A Meal College Cookbook” — which offers up homestyle recipes that are quick and tasty and can fit into our hectic schedules — we couldn’t help giving it the old college try
