5 things you need to know from NYFW Friday

We almost fell out of our seats when we saw not one, but two designers show sequined bandanas on the runway yesterday: fun-gal Cynthia Rowley and Calvin Klein minimalist Wes Gordon. So, is this couture-Dolly-Parton accessory poised to become a bonafide trend? Please God yes.

As temps dipped well below freezing in New York City Friday, we kept seeing an alarming amount of runway attendees arrived wearing open-toed shoes. And no socks. Seriously, there is nothing less chic than getting frostbite on your toes — not even wearing Uggs.

Fendi threw a party to celebrate its new flagship on Madison Avenue and new charity initiative, 3Baguette. Celebrities like Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Martha Stewart and Sofia Coppola partied with Karl Lagerfeld. Erykah Badu manned the decks.

Friday was bitter, bitter cold, so it was magical to enter Kate Spade’s New York’s sunny presentation (cream puffs and champagne were passed around). Creative director Deborah Lloyd looked to her favorite Roald Dahl books this season, and we especially loved the “Fantastic Mr. Fox” section. You don’t need the real stuff people.

Amy Winehouse beehives. Greaser jackets. Rockabilly gingham. Nobody makes bad girls look as good as Adam Selman, who showed a total Instagram-worthy collection inspired by biker gangs and John Waters’ “Female Trouble.” Just ask Selman BFF and No. 1 troublemaker Rihanna.
