An Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) study has revealed that WhatsApp is one of the platforms with the worst security for the protection of user data against being spied on by the government and third parties.

The app, which has 800 million users, only got one of five possible stars according to the study. As a consequence, some people are looking for alternatives in order to make sure that their personal information isn’t stolen.

Even though they aren’t as popular, there are a wide variety of apps that offer total security from hackers intercepting private messages and calls. These apps encrypt the data before it leaves the mobile device and only allows the receiver access to it.
