A new KIND of pairing

When the crazy kids at KIND Healthy Snacks launched six new flavors — using ingredients such as blueberries, pecans and cherries — they thought: Let’s pair them with cheese! And when you think about it, it’s a winning combo. Fruit and nuts are already found either on or near a cheese platter at a party. So KIND met with a group of cheesemongers from Murray’s Cheese, who paired each bar with the perfect dairy product. Here are the winning combinations, along with their tasting notes and wine recommendations.

KIND: Blueberry Pecan
Cheese: Westfield Farm Capri
Recommended wine: Chardonnay
Tasting notes: The tartness of the Capri helps bring out the blueberry flavors.

KIND: Peanut Butter and Strawberry
Cheese: Robiola Bosina
Recommended wine: Rose
Tasting notes: This pairing is milky, like a kid’s treat. Pair it with Rose and you’ve got an adult snack. Plus, the wine brings out the fruitiness of the strawberry.

KIND: Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate
Cheese: La Tur
Recommended wine: Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: This is a decadent combination, perfect for the holidays. It combines a rich cheese with the amazing peanut butter and chocolate combination.

KIND: Apple Cinnamon and Pecan
Cheese: Cabot clothbound cheddar
Recommended Wine: Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: It’s the classic pairing of apple and cheddar.

KIND: Pomegranate Pistachio
Cheese: Mahon Curado
Recommended wine: Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: Mahon complements the pistachio very well. Reactions were “salty and delicious.”

KIND: Dark Chocolate and Cherry and Cashew
Cheese: Podda Classico
Recommended wine: Rose
Tasting notes: The combination makes for a satisfying pairing that mixes salty and sweet.
