The sexist event in the fashion calendar, The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, returned to New York City’s Lexington Avenue Armory on Wednesday. And our reporter, Nicholas Lim, was on the red carpet asking the ladies (and the handsome Tyson Beckford) the hard questions.
What will be different from last year’s show?
For one, we have three performers, and a special performance. Then we have 36 models walking this year, 12 of them have never walked on a show before. And we have some really fun themes, like "Under the Sea" and "Super Angels." So I think we are really trying some new stuff this year and I hope you will enjoy the show.
— Lori Greeley, CEO of Victoria’s Secret Show
Have you been to the show? How excited are you for this year?
I have actually never been to the show before so it’s my first time this year and I’m really excited. I have always wanted to see if the models and angels really look like how they look on TV. You know, at home when you see them, there are special angles, lighting and effects so they just look so stunning. But now that I’m here, I would really love to see if they look like that in real life. I am quite sure I won’t be disappointed, though.
— Rachelle Lefevre, star of “Twilight” and CBS’s “A Gifted Man”
Do you like your ladies in lingerie?
Of course, man. Which guy doesn’t? But to me, I like a lady in simple clothing but who still appears confident. I find that is the sexist a lady can be.
—Tyson Beckford, model and TV host
Do you do boxers or briefs?
I don’t really know. I have a whole range of underwear from Hugo Boss and other stuff. But I am one guy who really likes to be comfortable, so comfort is most important to me. .
—Matthew Settle, star of “Gossip Girl”
How did you feel wearing the Fantasy Bra just now?
I’m really happy to do it. I was a little nervous at first because it was my first time wearing the most expensive piece on the show. But once I was out there, it was pretty fun and I enjoyed it.
