Still single? Maybe it’s not you, but your city

Ahh, February. Thanks to Valentine’s Day, it’s often considered the month of love — unless, of course, you’re single.

For all those people wondering why they are still flying solo, they may be living in the wrong city.

And real estate site Trulia may be able to determine the right one with its newly-released study, “Where to Live and Let Love Find You.”

The report analyzes Census Bureau data in 100 metro regions across the country, determining the ratio of single men to single women, and taking into account their age range, workweek hours, education level and if they’ve been previously married.

Because the Census does not ask about sexual orientation, Trulia wasn’t able to “discern whether the dating pool is better for men seeking men versus men seeking women and vice versa,” the company said.

Here’s what Trulia found:

The west is the best when it comes to finding a marriage-material man — a never-married fella in his 30s with a college degree and a steady, 40-hour-a-week job — as the majority of the Top 10 cities in California, Washington and Hawaii. San Francisco ranks first, with nearby San Jose in second.

The best place to find Ms. Independent is just outside our nation’s capital in Silver Spring-Frederick-Rockville, Maryland. Atlanta ranks No. 2 for finding the woman who has at least a graduate degree and works 40 hours a week and may have been married before. New York ranks ninth.

Bakersfield, California, is where to go if you’relooking for all the single men but not so many single ladies. On the flip side, the area of North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida, has more single women than it does men. Philadelphia and New York rank eighth and ninth, respectively.

San Francisco, Silver Spring, Washington, D.C., and Cambridge, Massachusetts, are the smart choices for sapiosexuals who find brains a turn on.

Head to San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia or San Jose if you don’t want the baggage of an ex-spouse to contend with. These areas havethe highest percentage of never-marrieds.

But if you’re a divorcee looking for someone with a similar experience, Florida cities Sarasota, Daytona Beach and Cape Coral have a smaller number of singles who weren’t married before.
