Can a DD cream really do it all?

According to the press release, Julep’s DD cream will “moisturize, prime, perfect and protect — both instantly and over time.” That’s a big claim. But it is, after all, labeled a “do-all.” The formula doesn’t contain harmful chemicals such as parabens and phthalates, but it does come packed with a lot of other things such as anti-aging agents, anti-oxidants and a mixture of hibiscus and olive extracts.

The stuff that comes out of the tube is thick and dark, but surprisingly blends easily into my skin, which now feels soft and smooth. Do I see a faint glow? I take the cream for a test drive on a hot, sticky day. My face doesn’t feel greasy in the slightest. But when it comes to coverage, it’s almost too discreet. By layer three, I give up trying to hide a small red patch on my upper lip and a blemish on my cheek. I’ll have to use my BB cream for that instead.
