Celebrity maternity style secrets

Dressing an ever-changing body can definitely be challenging, but since all of Hollywood seems to have baby fever, there’s more style inspiration than ever. Here, we highlight three tips that you can steal from the stars.

Go for layered looks.

If you’re early in your pregnancy, you’re “showing,” but don’t yet have a cute bump to flaunt. The key to pulling off this stage looking and feeling great is using blazers and cardigans to layer. Wearing a loose-fitted shirt under a blazer will keep you feeling comfotrable, and the extra layer will keep you from looking too relaxed. Instead of looking sloppy, you’ll look put-together and chic, like Zoe Saldana perfectly illustrates in the above photo.

If you go bold, keep it loose.

Form-fitting maternity styles are certainly on trend, but they work best in shades that aren’t overwhelming. But you don’t have to avoid bright shades for 40 weeks – just opt for relaxed styles, like Kerry Washington did at a Women’s In Hollywood luncheon she attended near the end of her pregnancy. Flashing a bold color in the form of a loose dress or top looks elegant and easy. Plus, it’s comfy!

Look for belted styles.

Now that you have a lovely bump to flaunt, your “waistline” is now moved up to under your bust. Wearing dresses with this moved-up waistline gives you shape and a nice silhouette while still providing comfort, unlike attempting to create a waistline around your belly. Kristin Cavallari shows how it’s done in the above photo with a belted maxi.
