A Pittsburgh take-out take out restaurant changes its menu and decor every few months to reflect the current state of geopolitical affairs.

Conflict Kitchen serves only cuisine from countries with which the U.S. is in conflict, such as North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and Afghanistan. This month the restaurant is offering Cuban conflict cuisine under the temporary Spanish name, “Cocina del Conflicto.”

A description on the restaurant’s website states, “Each Conflict Kitchen iteration is augmented by events, performances, and discussions that seek to expand the engagement the public has with the culture, politics, and issues at stake within the focus country.”
