DJ Cassidy isn’t one to ring in his birthday with a couple friends at a pub — the man has been going all out with fetes fit for a king since his 20th, and his 30th on Wednesday at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City was no different. Cassidy, clad head to toe in a canary yellow suit and slippers with the DJ Cassidy crest, took the stage to introduce the reunited New Edition as guests like Swizz Beatz (“Everything’s good,” he told us of his new baby with wife Alicia Keys) mingled and sipped Hennessey Black cocktails in honor of the drink’s first anniversary. It was a wild night for sure — and we couldn’t resist asking stars about their craziest birthdays.
DJ Cassidy:
“It would be the last one at the New York Public Library, where Rakim and Bobby Brown performed and Jay-Z and Nas were at one table rapping every line.”
Adrienne Bailon:
“My most exciting birthday was probably my 26th birthday. I got surprised — I got taken away on a trip to Turks and Caicos with like 10 of my friends. [I] thought I was going to Miami. I arrived in Miami and all of sudden all my friends popped out, it was the most random thing.”
Jaslene Gonzalez, winner of “America’s Next Top Model” Cycle 8:
“I just recently had a birthday party at Y Bar, one of my favorite clubs in Chicago. Literally I walked in and it felt like heaven — nothing but white balloons, white confetti on the floor, then they play my favorite mariachi singer on a flat-screen TV, and it was my favorite song with my photos and runway videos, so it was like Jaslene’s heaven.”
Jonathan Cheban, “The Spin Crowd”:
“My craziest birthday party was probably last year. It was the premiere of my show, it was on the night of my birthday.”
But surely the best remark came from Kirstie Alley, who couldn’t remember a) her own 30th birthday party and b) why she was even at the event in the first place. “Are you kidding me? I have no idea. Is it his 30th?” she asked us.
