Fiery looks and fairy tales at Paris Couture

The customers of Haute Couture only number a few hundred in the world, but the entire fashion industry had their eyes turned towards Paris for the exclusive looks and A-list front row. For the Fall 2015-16 season, fashion houses didn’t fail to deliver, with Atelier Versace’s Greek Goddesses, Dior and its Garden of earthly delights, and Chanel’s casino at the Grand Palais.

Christian Dior

In the beautiful garden outside the Musée Rodin in Paris, Raf Simons welcomed his guests into an impressionist-esque greenhouse. Models, in pastel dresses, heavy capes, dainty floral prints and bejeweled gowns, walked a purple grass like runway, and looked like the heroines of fairy tales. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough and Emily Blunt, all seated in the audience, certainly seemed enchanted.

Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld took a gamble on a star-studded casino inside the Grand Palais, where Kristen Stewart, Julianne Moore, Lily-Rose Depp and Rita Ora were seen rolling dice at the Blackjack table before the start of the show. The collection was an ode to flawless tailoring, with many interpretations of the famous Chanel boxy jacket and short skirt mostly in dark tones. Short bobs and defined eyebrows gave a Twenties vibe to the presentation, with long ruffled dress and bouncy skirts as light as a feather. Kendall Jenner, this season’s ‘high-roller’, closed the show in a double-breasted white suit and a wedding veil.

Atelier Versace

Donatella Versace, channeling Courtney Love, wants her couture customers to look like fierce-yet-sexy warriors next winter. Her glamazons included model-of-the-moment, Kendall Jenner, Doutzen Kroes, Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss, closed the show in Greek goddess purple gowns. And of course Versace didn’t forgot its sexy red carpet-ready body-con, cut-out numbers, which would be perfect on front row attendees like Irina Shayk and Naomi Campbell.
